The last 24 hours have been a terrific cleansing
of my soul - a sense of "closure" as I have read
the various stories as others have recounted their day. Sad
to admit this, but I am somewhat relieved that others had
problems as well! I had visions of the entire Red Group, laughing
and cheering each other as they ran, en masse, to the finish
line as One. Little did I realize that by the time it was
over, runners were scattered all over the place. That 20-mile
mark is a killer!
I have been blessed with some great individual emails from
runners who emphasized the right things that I should be looking
at. The bottom line is I am happy with what I did and am gaining
the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with this
event. I mean, I ran 20 of the 26 and did, in fact, finish
the whole 26. Three months ago, that would have been unthinkable!
So, today, I acknowledge with renewed pride that I AM a marathoner!
(A slow, sore one, though!) :>)
