As I was at home yesterday, barely able to move most of the afternoon, I was thinking to myself, “I am so glad I did that, but I don’t think I will ever do another one.” I spent most of today thinking “How am I going to get better for next time?” I didn’t do as well time wise as I had hoped (4:33 which was half an hour over my goal), but upon reflection, it was an amazing, unforgettable experience. My marathon had highs and lows all the way through, just like the last six months of training did. From the beginning of June when I started running and I couldn’t run a mile without stopping, to yesterday when I finished 26.2 miles is a journey that I never really thought I would take. But I am so glad I did. All those early Saturday mornings, Lost Horizon on Thursday J, were all worth it. I was not expecting the emotion that came out when I finished and the lady handed me my medal, but it is something I will never forget. Thanks to Leslie, Okyu and Kathleen for coaching our group all year. Thanks to the 9:15 group for keeping me motivated to keep up! Thanks to my Yasso partner Cindy B for all her great advice and motivation. Thank you Pat for your weekday workouts, I know I became a better runner because of them. Now What?
