There are 2 things that I felt immediately after the race, and that I will keep forever from this experience: First, the intense pain of the last 2 miles, due to cramping in both legs, really tested me. It was much more painful than I expected it to be. In order to get past this I soaked in the incredible support of everyone cheering, supporting, and pushing the marathoners. Those who come to support the runners are every bit as important and dedicated as the runners themselves. Second, the flood of emotions that I felt in those same 2 miles ran the gamut. I wanted to sing, cry, laugh and yell at the top of my lungs all at once. I did all 4 whenever the spirit moved me. I must have looked like a bad actor in the B-movies, but I cannot remember a time when I felt so beautifully human and superhuman at once. I will be back next year.
